Workstations for Lumion
Lumion uses one graphics card and runs largely on a single CPU thread, so a fast GPU with plenty of memory matters most. We size these machines around that.
What matters for Lumion
- One fast GPU with at least 16GB, Lumion’s high-end tier
- High single-thread CPU performance
- 64GB of system memory, because the model loads into main memory first
- Fast storage with room for a 105GB install
The graphics card is the biggest factor in Lumion performance, and Lumion uses only one card, so multiple GPUs are unnecessary. Lumion’s high-end tier asks for a GPU with 16GB of VRAM and a G3DMark score of 22,000 or more, a single-thread CPUMark of 3,000 or more and 64GB of memory (Lumion system requirements). Lumion is single-threaded, so clock speed matters more than core count. The model loads into main memory first, and 64GB is usually plenty at the high end. No professional or certified card is needed. The range starts with a 16GB RTX PRO 2000, which meets the high-end VRAM line, then moves to the NVIDIA RTX PRO 5000 48GB, with 48GB of ECC memory for larger projects. When projects outgrow 48GB, the next step is the RTX PRO 6000, which we offer with 96GB. With one GPU and a single-threaded CPU load, there is no benefit in going further.

Frequently asked questions
No. Lumion needs no professional or certified card. Lumion supports NVIDIA, AMD and Intel cards (A580 or B580 and above), and ray tracing needs hardware ray-tracing support (Lumion support).
No. Lumion can use only one graphics card, so the budget is better spent on a single faster card with more memory.
Lumion asks for 6GB at minimum, 10GB recommended and 16GB for its high-end tier. Rendering at 4K, or ray tracing at 1080p, needs at least 8GB (Lumion system requirements).
Standard meets Lumion’s high-end VRAM line and suits students and smaller projects. Heavy, with the NVIDIA RTX PRO 5000 48GB, suits most professional work. Studio is for very complex scenes that outgrow 48GB of GPU memory.
Windows 10 version 2004 or later, or Windows 11 24H2 or later, with Windows 11 recommended (Lumion system requirements). Our configurations ship with Windows 11 Pro.
