Workstations for D5 Render

D5 Render needs a ray-tracing graphics card and plenty of system memory. We size these machines from D5’s own optimal tier upwards.

What matters for D5 Render

  • A ray-tracing GPU with memory for your largest scenes
  • 128GB of system memory, matching D5’s optimal tier
  • A current high-end desktop CPU
  • Windows 10 version 1809 or later

D5 Render requires a graphics card with hardware ray tracing, and also supports AMD Radeon RX cards (D5 system requirements). D5’s optimal tier pairs an RTX 3090 with a Core i9-13900K or Ryzen 9 7950X and 128GB of DDR5 memory. D5 publishes no VRAM figures, though its page notes that the recommended RTX 3060 has 12GB. Multi-GPU rendering is not mentioned in the requirements, and a 2023 forum request for dual-GPU support suggests it is not available (D5 forum), so we treat D5 as a single-GPU application. That means the range steps up in one card. Standard pairs a 16GB RTX PRO 2000 with 128GB, above D5’s recommended tier. Heavy uses the NVIDIA RTX PRO 4500 32GB, a 32GB card with ECC memory, with the same 128GB as D5’s optimal tier. Studio moves to a 48GB RTX PRO 5000 and 256GB for large scenes that need more memory headroom. With no documented multi-GPU support, we stop there.

Frequently asked questions

D5’s system requirements do not mention multi-GPU, and a 2023 request for dual-GPU support on D5’s forum suggests it is not available (D5 system requirements; D5 forum). We recommend one powerful card.

D5 does not publish VRAM figures. Its recommended RTX 3060 has 12GB (D5 system requirements). Our configurations start at 16GB and go up to 48GB for large scenes.

D5 lists AMD Radeon RX cards as supported alongside NVIDIA (D5 system requirements). The configurations here use NVIDIA cards.

Standard suits students and smaller projects and is above D5’s recommended tier. Heavy matches D5’s optimal memory and exceeds its optimal GPU, and suits most professional work. Studio adds a 48GB card and 256GB of memory for large scenes.

Yes. Press Customise and the configurator opens with this build already selected. You can change any part except the chassis, such as more storage or more memory, and the price updates as you go.
